The Police were a British rock band formed in London in 1977. They became globally popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s. “Rolling Stone” labeled them “the first British New Wave act to a breakthrough in America on a grand scale, and possibly the biggest band in the world.” The Police won a number of music awards, including six Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, and in 2003 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
“Synchronicity” is the fifth and final studio album by The Police, released in June 1983. This was the band’s most successful release, including hit singles “Every Breath You Take,” “King of Pain,” “Wrapped Around Your Finger,” and “Synchronicity II.” At the 1984 Grammy Awards, the album was nominated for a total of five awards, including Album of the Year, and won three. At the time of its release and following its tour, The Police were hailed as the “Biggest Band in the World.”
